night rescue for stranded airboaters
published: 11 March 2014
Members of the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office Range and Water Unit responded late Sunday evening to a call of lost airboaters near C.S. Lee Park in Geneva, Florida.
Law enforcement was contacted when the boaters, including two adults and a two-year-old child, failed to return home from a boating trip when expected.
Range and Water units coordinated with friends of the boaters, who also launched a second airboat in an attempt to help find them.
The stranded boaters built a fire near their location to make it easier for them to be spotted by rescuers. The search teams and the SCSO Alert helicopter quickly located them near the south end of Puzzle Lake.
The boaters were in good condition and were escorted safely back to shore.
